Building your own assistants

How to start creating assistants on Deputise

Building your own assistants

Love chatting with assistants on Deputise? Good news — you can build your own too. Whether it's something for your family, your customers, or guests staying at your place, if a helpful chat would solve the problem, you can put an assistant together for it.

What people build

There's no single right answer here, but a few common ones to spark ideas:

  • A heating system helper for guests at a holiday let, so they're not texting you at 11pm asking how to turn the radiators on.
  • An IT helpdesk for an older relative, patient and tailored to their phone, their broadband, and the apps they actually use.
  • A customer FAQ assistant for your small business, answering the same questions you've answered a hundred times before.

People also build study tutors, hobby companions, and assistants for their teams at work. If you can imagine a useful chat, you can probably build it.

How to get started

  1. Subscribe to a builder plan. Building assistants needs a subscription — see pricing for the options. The Free tier lets you create a couple of assistants to try things out, and paid tiers raise the limits on assistants and credits.
  2. Head to the assistant builder at /assistant-builder.
  3. Walk through the creation flow. You'll pick a type, describe who the assistant is for, and answer a few questions to shape its behaviour. It's quick — you can be chatting to your new assistant in a few minutes.

Plans and limits

Different plans suit different needs. The Free tier is great for trying it out. Basic, Standard, and Pro give you more assistants, more chat credits each month, and access to premium AI models, image attachments, and web search depending on the tier. Have a look at /pricing to compare.
