How it works

How it works

A Deputise assistant is built for you by someone you know. Here is what to expect, from the first invitation through to coming back later with new information.

Step 1

Receive an invitation

Someone you trust — a friend, a family member, or a business — has built an assistant for a specific purpose and shared it with you by email. The invitation is personal: the assistant is set up to help with the things they thought you would need.

Step 2

Accept and start chatting

Open the link in the email and sign in. The assistant will be there, ready to talk — ask it anything within the area it was built to help with. There is no app to install and no setup to work through; you can start the moment you arrive.

Step 3

Show it what you are seeing

Words don't always describe a problem well. Many assistants accept image attachments, so you can take a photo of the form, the error message, the rash, or whatever you are trying to figure out. The assistant works with the picture and the text together.

Step 4

Escalate to the creator when you need a human

If the assistant doesn't have an answer, or the question is really one for the person who built it, you can ask for their help. They will see the conversation, respond to you directly, and the assistant carries on with the new context — you don't have to repeat yourself.

Step 5

Pick up where you left off

Every chat is saved. Come back later when you have new information, find the right conversation, and continue it — the assistant remembers the context. You can search across past chats too, so you never lose track of what was discussed.
