1. Overview
This Cookie Policy explains how Deputise uses cookies and similar technologies.
We limit use of cookies for the functionality of this site. We do not track your behaviour beyond this site, or ever use your data for marketing purposes.
2. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your browser. They help websites remember information between visits.
3. Cookies We Use
Essential Cookies
These cookies are required for core platform functionality and security. For example:
- Authentication and session cookies used to sign users in and keep accounts secure.
- Technical cookies needed for basic site operation.
Essential cookies cannot be switched off from the cookie banner because the service cannot operate correctly without them.
Analytics Cookies
We use analytics technology (currently PostHog) to understand product usage and improve the platform.
- If you choose Allow cookies, analytics may use cookies/local storage.
- If you choose Essential only, we do not allow analytics cookies/local storage. Where supported, analytics runs in cookieless mode.
Analytics records the pages you open on this site and when you open them, the clicks, changes and form submissions you make on them, and events the product raises for its own features, such as a chat starting or a question being escalated. An interaction is recorded as the kind of interaction it was and the address of the page it happened on. The text on and around the thing you clicked is removed before the event is sent, so your messages, the titles drawn from them, and the instructions an owner wrote for an assistant are not part of it.
Crash Reports
When the site fails in your browser we record the error, where in our code it happened, and the page you were on, so that we can repair it. Crash reports go to the same provider as analytics, and are sent whichever choice you make in the banner, because we rely on our legitimate interest in keeping the service working rather than on your consent. What one carries depends on that choice. Where you have allowed cookies, the report carries the same identifier as the rest of what analytics records for you: your account where you are signed in, and otherwise the browser the analytics cookie recognises. Where you have chosen Essential only, or have not answered the banner yet, it carries no name and no identifier for you, and sets no cookie.
Session Replay
We do not use session replay. No recording is made of your screen or of what you type into it.
4. Your Choices
When you first visit Deputise, you can choose:
- Essential only
- Allow cookies
We store your choice so we do not ask you on every page load.
If your browser or a browser extension sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we take it as Essential only and do not show you the banner, because the signal has already answered it. Answering the banner yourself overrides the signal, in either direction, and section 5 is how you open it.
Essential only stops the cookies, not the measurement. Analytics carries on without a cookie, without anything kept in your browser's storage, without a session identifier and without a name: nothing it sends is tied to your account, and nothing in it lets us recognise you on a later visit. Where those visits are counted, our analytics provider does the counting from the request itself, such as the address it came from and the browser that made it, as a value that cannot be turned back into either and that it replaces daily. Before you answer the banner, the site behaves the same way. Allow cookies is what lets analytics keep a cookie, recognise the same browser on a later visit and, where you are signed in, record what you do under your account. Crash reports are sent either way.
5. How to Change Your Preference
You can clear cookies in your browser settings and revisit the site to make a new choice in the banner. You can also select Cookie preferences, in the site footer or in your account menu if you are signed in, to reopen the banner directly.
6. Legal Basis
Where required by law (including in the EU/EEA and UK), non-essential cookies are used only based on your consent.
Analytics cookies, and recording what you do under your account, rest on that consent, and you can withdraw it at any time as described in section 5. The cookieless measurement that continues without it, and our crash reports, rest instead on our legitimate interest in understanding whether the product works and in keeping it working. You can object to that processing by writing to privacy@deputise.ai.
7. Updates to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy and will update the "Last updated" date when changes are made.
